Princess Cheesecake, Mitte

I have to start this blog post with a huge disclaimer that I’m not a huge fan of cheesecake. My oldest sister dies for the stuff, but it mostly makes me feel sick. I’d rather have a fat layer of actual cream cheese on a bagel. Anyways…

If you walk around Berlin, you’ll see countless places with “NY-style cheesecake” on their menus. Don’t fall for the trap – it doesn’t taste anything like actual NY cheesecake. I don’t even have to taste it to tell you that – one glance at the congealed cake tells you everything you need to know.

The hype for Princess Cheesecake (Tucholskystraße 37, 10117 Berlin) is real in Berlin. I’ve had multiple people recommend this place to me for its German cheese cake. German cheese cake differs from NY cheesecake because it’s made of quark – a lighter cheese base. It’s also 2-3 inches thick. Audrey opted for the traditional order of cheesecake while I got a almond cake (almond tart base, vanilla whipped cream filling, topped with blueberries).

Would I recommend? If you’re big into cheesecake sure. If you’re on the fence, then pass.
